A building inspector in Phoenix told me my backflow preventer testing method was outdated
He said my old annual visual check wasn't enough for their new codes, so now I use a proper differential gauge and log the numbers. Anyone else had to switch up their testing routine for local regs?

Ugh, that's rough but honestly not surprising. Did they give you a heads up before the inspection or was it a total surprise fail? Our town sent out a mailer about code updates but it got lost in all the junk mail. Had to eat a re-inspection fee because of it.

...and that mailer never made it to me either, I swear. Total surprise fail, @evanr79. They showed up, I thought everything was good, and then they start pointing out stuff I never even heard about. The inspector lady was nice enough, but she said the code change was posted online three months ago. Three months! Who has time to check the town website every week for that? I had to pay the re-inspection fee too, plus rush to get the work done. It's like they set you up to fail on purpose sometimes.
