Warning about using a standard dive knife for cutting old fishing net in the Puget Sound

I tried cutting a thick, abandoned gill net off a prop in 40 feet of visibility last Tuesday and the serrated edge on my regular knife just snagged and bound up, forcing me to surface and grab a proper webbing cutter, so has anyone else found a specific tool that works better for that kind of synthetic line?

Sounds like your dive knife tried to knit a sweater instead. I keep a pair of trauma shears in my kit for that exact reason.

My dive knife clearly thought it was a seamstress, not a tool for cutting things!

Your knife trying to be a seamstress, @spencer_sanchez67, is a solid image. Sounds like we all need trauma shears, not a knitting club.
