Warning: A dive tender told me my hose handling was sloppy and it fixed my bottom time
Last month on a pipeline job outside Galveston, the tender pulled me aside and told me straight up that I was dragging my umbilical across the silt and that's why I kept getting hung up at 40 feet. He was right, I was paying more attention to the torch than the line. Since then I've been doing a full sweep check on the hose before every descent and keeping a loose figure eight near the surface. My bottom time went up about 15 percent because I'm not stopping to untangle anymore. Any of you got a tender who straightened you out like that?
