TIL a cheap depth gauge beat my dive computer on a 60 foot job in Galveston
Last week we were running a pipeline inspection at 60 feet in Galveston and my $900 computer kept giving me different numbers than my old brass depth gauge, so I started trusting the gauge instead. The computer was reading 3 to 4 feet off because of a bad sensor, and the diver who went in after me used the gauge and his tables and had zero issues. Has anyone else had their fancy electronics lie to them on a deep job, or am I the only one going back to the basics?

Man, this is the same story as my GPS trying to send me into a lake last month. We trust the shiny stuff way too much and forget the old tools just plain work.
