Finally got a proper umbilical cutter after a close call in Lake Erie
It was around $300, but it saved me a massive tangle with some old fishing line last week. What's your go-to tool for cutting yourself free down there?

That's a serious chunk of change for a dedicated cutter. A good dive knife with a line cutter notch has always done the job for me without the extra gear. Seems like overkill unless you're constantly in monofilament jungles.

Hold up, you're only thinking about what YOU can cut. What about your buddy? If he's the one tangled and panicking, you need to get to that line FAST. A dedicated cutter on your shoulder strap is right there, no fumbling. A knife on your leg is useless if you're trying to reach past him. It's about saving HIS life, not just yours.
