Am I the only one who thinks surface-supplied beats scuba for shallow harbor work?
Everyone on my crew keeps pushing scuba for anything under 60 feet, but after switching to surface-supplied on a pier inspection in Galveston last month I finished the job in 3 hours instead of 5. Having the tender keep my air and comms steady on deck meant no tank swaps and no guessing on my bottom time. The old guys on the dock call it overkill for shallow stuff, but the numbers from that one job don't lie. What depths do you all draw the line at before you break out the helmet?
