Almost lost a guy to a faulty lift bag at the Port of Seattle last month

We were doing a pier inspection around Pier 86 and one of the lift bags blew a seam at about 30 feet. The rapid ascent was scary fast, he went from bottom to surface in maybe 5 seconds. I've since started double-checking every bag's inflation valve and seam condition before we even drop. Anyone else had a close call with gear failure during a job?

Yeah, blowing a seam at depth is terrifying, I always over-inflate test them on deck now.

Over-inflating on deck is asking for unseen damage. A bag that passes a surface test can still fail at depth from a pinhole you never spotted. All you're doing is wasting time and stressing gear that didn't need it.
