Warning: That friend who 'reads every issue' but clearly doesn't remember a thing
I was at the shop last Friday talking about the new Absolute Batman run and this guy jumps in saying how much he loves it. Then he starts describing a scene that literally never happened in any issue. He mixed up a character from the 90s with the current one. I called him out and he got all defensive. Has anyone else dealt with a fan who wants to sound like an expert but clearly hasn't opened a book in months?

Just last week I was talking about the first issue of the new Ultimate Spider-Man and some guy swore Peter Parker got his powers from a gamma bomb. He was dead serious too, kept saying "that's how it always was." I laughed and said I must have missed that entire decade of comics because I thought it was a radioactive spider. He just walked away. Its silly but I've done it myself honestly. I once argued with a buddy for ten minutes about which X-Men movie had the Phoenix storyline only to realize I was thinking of a completely different cartoon. We all get stuff mixed up sometimes but pretending you read something you clearly didnt is just asking for trouble.
