Trade paperbacks vs floppies, I finally get the hype
Used to only buy single issues every week at my shop in Portland, thought trades were for people who couldn't commit. Then I re-read a run of Moon Knight from 5 years ago in one sitting and the pacing just hit different. Anyone else find their whole reading habit shifted once they gave collected editions a real shot?
Glad someone else went through the same thing. I was the same way for years, singles every Wednesday, bagged and boarded, the whole routine. Then I sat down with a full run one rainy weekend and it was like reading it for the first time, no cliffhangers to sit on, no month long gap killing the flow. The writer actually gets to build something and you feel it when you are not waiting thirty days between beats. My pull list still exists but it is way smaller now and I do not miss the boxes taking over the closet.
Man, the closet boxes hit home for me. I had about 14 short boxes stacked in there and my wife kept asking when I was gonna deal with them. Reading a full run in one go really does hit different, you actually remember what happened in issue 3 by the time you get to issue 10 lol.
