Tracking down a single panel from a 1990s X-Men comic took me three weeks

I was trying to find the exact issue where Gambit says a specific line I remembered from my teens. I must have looked through over fifty back issues at my local shop in Cincinnati before I found it in X-Men #30 from 1994. Has anyone else had a hunt for a comic memory that dragged on forever?

Honestly, what's the point of hunting for a single panel like that? Tbh, with digital archives and wikis now, that kind of deep dive just seems like a waste of time. Ngl, I'd just google the quote and find it in five minutes.

Ever read that thing about how our brains don't remember stuff we just look up? Like the hunt makes it stick.

Last year I spent three hours tracking down a specific comic book page from the 80s. I still remember the artist's name and the plot twist because of that search, not from just reading a wiki summary. The struggle to find it made the details stick in a way a quick lookup never could.
