TIL that a lot of people think the 'Death of Superman' story was just a 90s gimmick

I used to think that too, but I read an interview with Dan Jurgens where he explained the whole plan was to show what a world without Superman would really look like for a full year. It wasn't just about the death, it was about the four replacements and the long road back. How many of you actually read the whole 'Reign of the Supermen' arc, not just the famous issue #75?

My wallet still hurts from buying all those replacement Superman comics.

Honestly, my wallet hurts just thinking about it too. I was all in on those four replacement guys. The Eradicator was my favorite, that black suit was so cool. But man, trying to get every single issue with a different Superman on the cover was a nightmare. It felt like a new one came out every week.

Just grab the main issues and skip the variant covers next time, your wallet will thank you later.
