Stood in line at a small shop in Minneapolis for 2 hours to meet a writer in 2016

Got to the front and he just handed me a signed book without saying a word. No handshake or even a nod. Has anyone else had a creator meetup feel more like a assembly line than a real interaction?

Met a guy who does those hand-drawn concert posters once at a booth in Portland. Waited like 45 minutes, and when I got up there he just slid a print across the table and stared at his phone. I said something like "big fan of your work" and he grunted. Not even a "thanks." I get it, these events are draining and people get burned out, but it's a bummer when you've been looking forward to it and it feels like you're just another number. Your mileage may vary, but I've found smaller local events or book signings at indie stores are way more chill for genuine conversations.

Tbh that's rough. I've had artists tell me straight up to hit them on Instagram after the show so they actually have the time to chat. Way better experience than catching them in the middle of a 50 person line.

Did you accidentally walk up to his personal table instead of the signing booth, or is that just his "artist persona" now? Sounds like a real charmer, that one.
