Standing in the comic shop aisle last Tuesday trying to pick between a Silver Age Fantastic Four reprint and a modern indie horror book
I had $15 in my pocket and had to choose between a beat-up FF #49 reprint or this new horror comic called The Last Halloween I heard good things about. Went with the horror book because the art on the cover looked so creepy I couldn't walk away from it. Anyone else ever bail on a classic for something totally new and regret it or feel great about it?

You picked The Last Halloween over the FF reprint? That's exactly the kind of move I make all the time, and I never regret it. Last month I walked out with a first printing of this weird little book called The Devil's Candy instead of a Crisis on Infinite Earths issue I'd been hunting for months. The indie book ended up being this super creative story about a haunted candy shop, and I still think about it way more than I ever would have that DC comic. There's something special about taking a chance on something nobody's talking about yet, you know? Hope your horror book delivers the same kind of surprise.

100 bucks says The Last Halloween ends up being the one I grab off the shelf years from now, not that FF reprint. @grace_fox3 you got me rethinking my whole comic buying strategy, but I bet I'll still make the same "wrong" choice next time. My pile of weird books nobody's heard of keeps getting bigger, and I'm fine with that.
