Rant: Used to read comics in a stack on the floor, now I need a spreadsheet
Back in the 90s, I just piled my issues next to my bed, maybe ten books high, and flipped through them whenever. No bags, no boards, no order to any of it. Last week I cataloged my collection of 400 books in a Google Sheet because I lost track of what I had double. Has anyone else given up on the old ways just to keep their sanity?

400 books is actually not that bad. I popped into a local shop last month and this guy had 1,200 issues just STACKED on a bookshelf with no dividers or bags. He thought he had every issue of Uncanny X-Men from 1985 to 1995 but turned out he was MISSING six issues and had three copies of another one. The spreadsheet saves you from that headache. Plus you can actually FIND the story you want to reread without digging through the whole pile and making a mess.

Oh man, the spreadsheet thing actually helps with insurance too if something happens to your collection, like a flood or fire. I never thought of it that way until a buddy had to file a claim and the adjuster asked for proof.

Honestly, does having a messy pile really take away from just enjoying the stories?
