Question about a random comment that changed my pull list approach

Back in 2018 a guy at my local shop in Cleveland told me I was reading comics like a chore list. He said I just grabbed whatever was popular and never tried anything weird. That stuck with me so I started picking up one random indie book each month. Now I read maybe 6 titles instead of 15 but I actually enjoy them more. Anyone else get a comment that made you rethink your whole reading habit?
