PSA: A guy at my local shop tried to tell me the 90s X-Men cartoon is better than the comics

This happened on Friday at Comics & More in Dayton. He was LOUD about it too, saying the show 'fixed' the characters. I had to walk away before I said something I'd regret. Has anyone else had to deal with a take this bad in public?

Honestly, that "fixed the characters" line is what gets me. The cartoon was fun but it simplified decades of complex stories into Saturday morning stuff. Tbh it cut out most of the moral gray areas that made the comics so good. You can't "fix" something that wasn't broken, you just made a kid friendly version. Ngl I would have had a hard time not laughing in his face. Some people just form their whole opinion on an adaptation and ignore the source material.

Yeah, it's basically the Cliff's Notes version with action figures.

Totally agree with paul_morgan. The cartoon was fun but it lost the real point of the stories. Calling that a fix is just wrong.
