My entire short box of X-Men comics got water damaged last night
A pipe burst in my basement around 2 AM and flooded the corner where I keep my collection. I didn't notice until this morning when I went down to grab an issue. The bottom third of the box, about 40 books from the 90s, are soaked and stuck together. I carefully pulled them apart and laid them out on towels, but the colors are already running. Has anyone had any luck saving books from something like this, or are they a total loss?

I saw a thing once about putting wet books in the freezer to stop the pages from sticking worse. I mean, idk if it works for comics with all the color, but maybe worth a shot?

Well, my collection's mostly water-damaged from my own tears reading them, so maybe you're onto something.

It's wild how we spend years building something up only to watch it get ruined in a few hours. You see it with collections, but also with relationships or even careers. Makes you wonder why we bother putting so much into temporary things.
