Got into it with a guy at the comic shop about digital vs physical and now I'm second guessing myself

So I was at Golden Age Collectibles in Austin last weekend and this older collector (maybe 60s?) told me I was wasting my money on floppies and that digital comics are the only way to go because you don't have to worry about bagging, boarding, or storage space. He said his 12,000 issue digital collection fits on a tablet and he can read anything in seconds. But on the other hand, I love the feel of a physical book and the smell of old paper, plus you can actually trade or sell them later. Which side makes more sense for someone starting out these days?

Oh I totally agree, you just can't beat the feel of a real comic in your hands!

Well actually, I'd push back a little on that. I just don't think you can get the same detail and texture from a digital screen that you can from a physical page. There's something about the way the ink sits on the paper, especially with older comics, that just feels more alive to me. Plus, the smell of a comic from the 80s or 90s is hard to beat too.
