A guy at the Portland comic shop told me I was reading the wrong Spider-Man run

He said the current Amazing issues were 'for kids' and I should only read the 80s stuff. I was just grabbing a single comic for my nephew. Ever have someone gatekeep your casual comic pick like that?

Ugh I hate when people do that! Honestly that guy sounds like a total snob. What worked for me when some dude at a con tried to tell me I was reading the "wrong" Batman was just to laugh and say oh cool thanks but I'm good. I grabbed what I wanted anyway and walked away. You don't gotta justify picking a fun comic for your nephew, especially if he's just getting into it. The 80s stuff is great and all but not every reader needs to start there, you know?

That guy might have a point about the 80s stuff being more for serious fans.

I found the 80s stuff clicked after a few listens, @jason112.
