A comic shop in Austin taught me to never trust a 'mint' grade without pictures
I was at a small convention there last fall, looking for a specific issue of 'The Amazing Spider-Man'. A dealer had a copy listed as 'mint' for $80. I didn't ask to see it out of the bag, just took his word. Got home, took it out under good light, and found a tiny but clear color-breaking crease on the spine he never mentioned. That $80 mistake changed how I buy now. I will not buy a single book, online or in person, unless I see multiple clear photos of the actual copy from every angle. Has anyone else gotten burned by a seller's loose grading at a con?
