The time a coffee shop's terrible wifi forced me to use my phone as a hotspot for 4 hours
Was at a spot in Austin that looked perfect, but the internet cut out after 10 minutes. My laptop battery was at 15% and the only outlet was taken. I remembered my phone plan has unlimited hotspot data. Plugged my phone into the laptop to charge it, turned on the hotspot, and just kept working. Ended up coding a whole feature update on 4G. Anyone else had to get this creative with a dead connection?

Always keep a short charging cable in your bag for that exact reason.

Wish I could say the same, but my bag is basically a black hole for cables. I buy those short ones and they just vanish, like socks in a dryer. Pretty sure there's a cable monster living in the bottom of my backpack. What's your secret for not losing them?

...my buddy Mark swears by those little zippered pouches you can get at the hardware store. He bought a pack of them for like eight bucks. Now every cable he owns goes into one of those pouches the second he pulls it out of his bag. He says it's the only way he's managed to hold onto a single charging cable for more than a month. I tried doing the same thing but ended up losing the pouch itself. So I guess the monster just moved up a size.
