I used to pick coffee shops by vibe, now I have a strict checklist
For years, I'd just walk into a place that looked cool and hope the wifi was okay, lmao. After getting booted off a call in Seattle last month because their network couldn't handle video, I changed my system. I now check three things before I even order: I run a speed test (need at least 25 Mbps down), count the outlets, and see if the music is loud enough to drown out other tables. It takes me 5 minutes max to figure out if a spot is workable. What's the first thing you guys check when scouting a new cafe?

My buddy Mark got burned in Portland last year. He was trying to show a client some 3D renderings and the cafe wifi kept dropping the file transfer. He lost the client. Now he does the same thing, speed test first, always. He won't even sit down until he sees the results.

I never bothered with speed tests until my video feed froze during a payroll meeting. Now it's the first thing I do.
