I finally fixed my WiFi issue after 7 hours in one cafe

Last Tuesday I sat down at a new coffee shop in Portland called Iron Works Brew. I spent the first 3 hours blaming their connection, then another 2 hours restarting my laptop and hotspot. Turns out the problem was my USB-C dongle was loose in the port. Has anyone else wasted a whole day on a tiny hardware glitch like that?

My buddy Steve had this thing where his external hard drive kept disconnecting in the middle of backups. He spent like 8 hours reformatting, running disk utilities, and buying new cables. Finally took it to a repair shop, and the guy just blew some dust out of the USB port with compressed air. Worked perfect after that. Drove me crazy just hearing about it.

Honestly that's rough but I love stories like that because I read somewhere that like 40% of tech issues are just dirty connections or loose cables. Your buddy must have felt like an absolute idiot but hey, at least it wasn't a dead drive.

Used to be the type to immediately blame the internet provider or the coffee shop wifi lol. Now I'm the one walking around checking all the cables like a detective first. Last week my bluetooth kept cutting out during a call, spent 20 minutes restarting my phone before realizing I had my keys sitting right on top of the USB receiver. Dust and loose connections are evil, they look like big problems when they're actually nothing.
