Got stuck in a tiny cafe in Lisbon for 3 hours during a downpour

Last month I was working from a spot near the Alfama district when a huge storm hit. I had to order a second coffee just to keep my table, but the owner was cool about it and even gave me the wifi password. Ended up having one of my most focused coding sessions ever with the rain on the windows. Has anyone else found that bad weather actually helps them focus when working from a cafe?

That rain would have me checking my phone for leaks back home.

Funny you mention that, my buddy Dave actually had a roof leak last spring and it took him three days to notice because he was so used to the rain sounds from a white noise machine. He woke up to a wet spot on his ceiling that was basically the size of a dinner plate. Now every time it rains, I get that same paranoid feeling and I'm walking around my apartment like a detective looking for water stains. The worst part is when you find one and you have to figure out if it's from this storm or something that happened months ago.

Oh man, that's the best feeling! I got caught in a storm at a library once and it was the same thing. The sound of the rain just blocked out all the other noise and I finally got through a pile of paperwork I'd been putting off. Something about being stuck and cozy just makes my brain click into gear. I'd take a rainy cafe over a sunny one for getting real work done any day.
