Broke my rule about never working at chain coffee places
I always said Starbucks was a lousy place to code because of the noise and the weird lighting, but I was stuck near a highway exit last week and tried one in a strip mall. They had a quiet side room with actual outlets at every table and nobody bothered me for 4 hours. Has anyone else found a chain that surprised them?

Didn't someone say Panera has that same hidden outlet setup in some locations?

I gotta push back on that a little. In my experience, those "hidden" outlets at Panera are usually just under the booth seats or near the baseboards, not in the same spot you're thinking of. Also, I've seen way more Starbucks and even some Barnes & Noble cafes with the outlet strips built into the base of the counter, which is pretty different from what Panera does. Your mileage may vary, but I've never run across one that's tucked away in a column or anything like that.
