Blew $60 on a fancy travel mug that leaked everywhere

I used to think spending $15 on a mug was plenty but last month I dropped $60 on this insulated travel mug from a brand everyone swears by. First day at my local cafe in Portland it leaked coffee all over my laptop bag. Ruined my notebook and I had to pack up early. Now I'm back using my old $12 ceramic mug from the cafe and honestly it's fine. Anyone else get burned by expensive gear that didn't deliver?

Oh man, that stings... $60 is brutal for a mug that can't even do the one thing it's supposed to do. I had a similar thing happen with a supposedly leakproof water bottle - it soaked through my entire gym bag and I had to deal with wet clothes for a week. Really makes you wonder why we even bother with fancy stuff when the cheap stuff works just fine.

Damn, that really does sum it up perfectly lol. It's like the more expensive something is, the more corners they cut on the actual basic function. I've noticed this pattern with so many things lately, not just mugs and bottles. You pay extra for the brand name or the slick design, but the cheap version just handles the job without all the drama. It's like they're so focused on making it look cool that they forget it needs to actually work. Total waste of time and money.
