A quiet cafe in Portland changed my mind about noise levels for coding
I used to think I needed total silence to get any real work done. But last Tuesday I went to this place called Common Grounds in Portland and it was buzzing with people and music. I stayed for 3 hours and finished a whole module of my project, which is usually a 5 hour task for me. The background chatter actually helped me focus instead of getting distracted by every little sound. Now I'm wondering if I've been avoiding busy spots for no reason. Has anyone else had a shift in what kind of cafe noise works best for them?

Oh man, that totally happened to me at a coffee shop near my old apartment.

Read somewhere that the same barista who messed up my order at one chain spot ended up working at another months later. Must be a weird coffee shop underground network or something.
