Rant: I finally stopped being a coffee snob and my mornings got way easier

For the last 3 years I was all about single-origin beans, weighed everything to the gram, used a gooseneck kettle, the whole deal. Then last Tuesday my grinder broke and I had to use pre-ground Folgers from the corner store. Figured I'd hate it but honestly? It was fine. Not amazing, but I didn't groan at my cup. Made me wonder if I'm just overcomplicating things for no real gain. Has anyone else dropped the fancy routine and just... enjoyed a basic cup without the guilt?

Respectfully gotta disagree with you here. The ritual is half the point for me - the quiet morning routine where you’re focused on one thing (like pour-over technique) before the day gets crazy. Pre-ground Folgers is fine if all you want is caffeine, but that’s like saying a PB&J is the same as a Reuben because both have bread. There’s a difference between “this works” and “this actually tastes good,” you know? I think we all get too caught up in the guilt thing though - drink what you like, no shame either way.

Drink what you like, no shame either way." That's all it comes down to really.
