My dad's old French press outlasted my fancy new one, found out why
I pulled my dad's 1980s French press out of storage last weekend after my newer one finally gave up, and the mesh on his is way finer than anything I've seen lately. Turns out the original maker in Lyon used a double stainless screen, while most current ones just have a single layer that lets sludge through. Has anyone else noticed older gear just being built better, or am I looking at this with rose colored glasses?
