My barista friend told me my pour-over technique was killing the flavor and I had to rethink everything
I mean, I've been doing pour-over coffee for like 2 years now. Thought I had it down. Then my friend who works at a shop in Portland watched me do it and said "you're pouring way too aggressive, you're channeling every time." I was just dumping water in a circle like I saw online. She made me slow way down, do tiny pours in a spiral from the center out. First cup I made after that was noticeably less bitter and had more sweetness. I still mess it up sometimes. Has anyone else had a coffee habit that someone just casually fixed with one observation?

Whoa, two whole years of aggressive pouring without realizing it?

Isn't that crazy how we can totally miss our own pouring patterns for that long?
