Letting my kid drink coffee is a hill I'll die on

My wife and I let our daughter have a small coffee with milk on weekends. Her grandparents think it will stunt her growth, but we see it as a family thing. It helps us slow down and connect. I think people worry too much about kids and coffee.

My grandma let me try coffee when I was maybe six... it was basically a cup of milk with a coffee spoon in it. Now I'm a fully grown adult who still can't handle the real stuff without a ton of cream.

Grandmas have a way of easing kids into strong flavors. That coffee spoon in milk is like training wheels for your tongue. I still need cream in my coffee because bitter tastes never clicked for me. Some people start with sugary coffee drinks and move to black coffee later. But for many, that first milky cup sets a lifelong preference. It's hard to shake those early food memories.

My grandma did the exact same thing with tea. It totally wires your brain for sweet, milky drinks forever. I can't even look at black coffee without feeling betrayed.
