Just blew $45 on a fancy coffee grinder off Amazon
I was sick of my blade grinder making uneven grounds so I bought this manual burr grinder from some random brand. First use it jammed up on some medium roast beans and I spent 20 minutes taking it apart with a screwdriver. Has anyone else gotten a dud grinder or am I just cursed with bad luck?

Did you check if the burrs were aligned right before you started cranking? A lot of these cheaper manual grinders come from the factory with the burrs set too tight or with metal shavings still stuck in them. I had a similar issue with a no-name brand off Amazon where the adjustment ring was basically frozen out of the box. Might be worth looking up a disassembly video for your specific model before you return it. What brand was it exactly?

Wait, did you try taking it apart and finding a tiny metal shaving lodged in the threads (because that happened to me with my first cheap grinder)? I actually thought I was just too weak to turn it, and then I was about to return it before a buddy laughed at me and showed me how to clean it out (which was honestly more embarrassing than the grinder itself). My first grinder was basically a paperweight for a week because I was too stubborn to look up a video, but I finally caved and watched a 2-minute tutorial and boom, it worked fine. So yeah, I bet that's your issue if the brand was something like "EK Brew" or "Manual Grind Pro" (made up names, but you get the vibe).
