Cold brew hack I tried that actually saved me $30 a month

Honestly I was spending like $35 a month on cold brew from the coffee shop near my office in Denver. So last week I tried making it at home with a cheap mason jar and some cheesecloth. Just coarsely ground beans, water, left it on the counter for 18 hours, then strained it through the cloth. Ngl it tasted almost the same as the shop stuff, maybe a bit smoother. Has anyone else found a simple DIY method that beats store bought?

Yo seriously that's awesome! I did the exact same thing a few months ago and I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. I used a big pickle jar and a clean t-shirt to strain it lol. The taste is honestly so close I barely notice a difference, maybe even a little less bitter which I actually prefer. I just leave mine in the fridge instead of on the counter though, 24 hours even, and it comes out super smooth. Such a game changer for my wallet, $30 is no joke.

The dollar store coffee creamer I tried instead cost me $2 and lasted two weeks. I get that cold brew saves cash long term, but $30 upfront for a jar and some beans is still a lot when cheaper shortcuts exist. @wren_rodriguez, the fridge trick just makes it take longer to steep and doesn't change much for me.
