Best pour over I ever had was at a gas station in Bakersfield
Stopped for the bathroom on a 14 hour drive and the cashier grabbed a bag of beans from behind the counter, ground them on the spot, and brewed it while my car was getting air. That cup tasted like berries and dark chocolate, way better than the $6 cup I got at a fancy shop last weekend. Why is it always the unexpected place that nails it, any other weird spot you found killer coffee?
I used to write off gas station coffee as a total lost cause, like most people probably do. But a buddy dragged me to this tiny truck stop outside Flagstaff and the drip there beat half the coffee shops back home, so now I keep an open mind. Guess the beans and the person brewing them matter way more than the fancy sign out front.
