A quick tip from a stranger at the cafe on 5th Street
I was waiting for my pour-over at the local spot, and the guy next to me saw me about to toss the grounds from my home grinder. He said, 'You know, those old grounds are great for your garden, they keep slugs away.' I started putting them around my tomato plants, and it actually worked. Has anyone else found a good use for used coffee grounds?

Oh wow, I always thought that was just a garden myth! I used to dump my grounds straight in the compost, figuring they were just nitrogen. But last summer my basil was getting eaten to bits, so I tried the coffee ground trick as a last resort. I made a little ring of them around the base of each plant. The bugs totally avoided those plants after that. It saved my herb garden.

Love that trick, @margaret_singh1. I mix them into my soil too.
