Switched from notepad to VS Code after 4 years of raw HTML and I feel dumb for waiting

Wrote my first 20 personal sites in plain notepad. Thought I was being hardcore or whatever. A buddy from a meetup in Austin showed me how VS Code auto closes tags and highlights errors. Took me like 30 minutes to install extensions. Now I can't imagine typing out every closing div myself. Has anyone else held onto old habits way too long just because they thought it was 'real coding'?

Did you feel a little embarrassed too when you realized how much time you wasted? I went through the same thing with another editor years ago and kicked myself for weeks.

Embarrassed doesn't cover it, more like I wanted to crawl under my desk and pretend I was never born. At least we can be dumb together, right?
