I was cleaning out my old college stuff and found a floppy disk labeled 'Intro to C++'

It made me look up when the first 'Hello, World!' program was written, and I was shocked to learn it was from a 1978 book by Brian Kernighan. I guess I figured that simple example was way older, like from the 60s. Anyone else stumble on a piece of coding history that made you feel old?

Why are we acting like finding a floppy disk is some huge historical event?

That specific floppy held the first draft of a major city's emergency plan from 1989. It's not about the disk itself but the lost data on it. Finding it changed how we understand their disaster prep history, right?

It's like finding a grocery list from the Cold War. Shows what they were really worried about.
