Why does nobody mention checking your ground clamp until it ruins a cut
I was fighting ugly beveled cuts on 3/16 plate for weeks and blaming my consumables. An old timer at the supply shop in Mesa watched my setup and said flat out, "your ground clamp is on painted metal, son." Sure enough, I had been clamping to the coated frame of my table. I ground a bare spot and moved the clamp to the slats, and the bevel got way cleaner on the next plate. I still wonder how many other guys are out there swapping tips when the problem is just the clamp spot.
