Burned through a whole nozzle in 20 minutes because I bumped the arc voltage on .080 aluminum
Doing a run of brackets in the garage on Saturday, about 40 of them, and I was speeding things up so I nudged the arc voltage up thinking it would give me a cleaner edge. Nope. Blasted through the nozzle in maybe 20 minutes and then the cut started drowning in dross on one side. I shut it down, checked the tip, and sure enough it was wasted. Tossed on a new nozzle, put the voltage back where the book says for .080, and the rest of the run cut clean. Cost me a nozzle and a chunk of an afternoon. What do you all watch for to know if voltage drift is the cutter or the air supply getting greasy?
