The setup guy at a job in Dayton told me to quit bumping my offsets by feel
I ran a batch of 200 aluminum brackets on an old Haas VF2 and kept tweaking my work offsets by ear, just listening to the cut. The setup guy watched me for 10 mins and then said "you're chasing chatter with your ears, use your indicators and check the part." So I started touching off with an indicator and checking my first part against the print before touching anything. Ran the next 50 with zero scrap and my tool life went way up. How do you guys dial in offsets on a new setup?
