Overheard a guy say "CNC is dead, 3D printing took over" - is he right or just old school?

Have you seen the tolerances on a production CNC mill though?

But those tight tolerances get thrown out the window when the machine hasn't been trammed in a year. Production shops crank out parts fast, not perfect. Real world conditions always beat theoretical specs.
