I was at the local trade show in Akron and saw a lot more touchscreen controls on the new machines
It seemed like every booth had a big, glossy screen. I'm used to physical buttons and dials. One rep said the new interface on their model cuts setup time by about 15%. I'm curious if it's actually easier to use or just more stuff that can break. Has anyone here switched over to a machine with a full touchscreen setup? What's the learning curve like?

Oh man, I feel that. We got one last year and the screens are a total dust and fingerprint magnet, which drives me nuts. The learning curve wasn't bad for basic functions, but digging into the advanced settings felt slower than the old menu buttons. Honestly, I still miss the physical feel of a dial for fine adjustments.

My old microwave had that same touch screen issue. I ended up buying a pack of microfiber cloths and keeping one right on the counter. Wiping it down became part of my routine after loading the dishwasher. For the settings, I forced myself to use one new feature each week, like the defrost by weight. It took a solid month before I stopped feeling slow with it. I never did get over missing the physical dial though.
