Had to choose between a 0.5mm stepover and a 0.25mm on a tricky aluminum finish last month.

Went with the 0.25mm and the part looked great, but the cycle time doubled, so was it really the right call?

So the customer was paying you by the hour, right? Because otherwise you just paid double to make a part that already looked good... maybe a little too good. Guess it's a good thing you weren't on a deadline.

$20 an hour shop rate and I'd be happy to have that thing out the door in three hours. That extra day of sanding and buffing probably cost more than the whole first paint job.
