The $9 icing spatula I laughed at is now my best seller
Two months back I saw a video from a Chicago cloud kitchen running about using offset spatulas for sauce plating. I figured it was marketing fluff, but I grabbed one from a restaurant supply store for 9 dollars. Turns out it makes my burrito bowls look 10 times better in photos and cut my prep time by half. Anyone else find that one cheap tool that fixed a review problem you thought needed a full rebrand?
I paid 12 bucks for a bench scraper three years ago and told my wife it was the dumbest purchase of my life, right before it became the only thing I use to move chopped onions into a pan without crying on the floor. Meanwhile I dropped 200 on a fancy santoku that just sits in the drawer judging me every time I reach past it for the cheap one. The joke is always on me, because the tool I mock is the tool that saves me. My burrito bowls still look like a toddler made them, but at least now the sour cream has a nice swoosh on top.
