Unpopular opinion: my smart thermostat made my energy bill go up $31 in February
I set it to auto-away in my Denver apartment back in January thinking I was being clever, and it kept kicking the heat back on right before I got home during cold snaps. When I pulled the utility data I found out it was running the furnace harder to recover from deep setbacks instead of just holding a steady temp. Anyone else find that a simple schedule beat the smart features for them?
