The dryer lint trap I stopped cleaning for 3 months
Used to clean the lint trap every single load. Then one weekend I just forgot, and after that it became a habit to ignore it. Last month my electric bill jumped $28 and my clothes were coming out damp no matter what setting I used. Looked it up, apparently a clogged trap makes the dryer work way harder and use more power. Cleaned it out, bill dropped back down. Now I keep a sticky note on the machine. Has anyone else found smaller home habits that secretly cost you more energy than you thought?
