Stop acting like solar panels are a magic fix for everything
I keep seeing people in this community claim that putting solar on their roof means they can ignore their actual energy use. That's backwards thinking. My neighbor in Phoenix put up a 12 panel system last summer but still runs three window AC units 24/7 and wonders why his electric bill barely dropped. The real win is cutting waste first, then adding generation. Has anyone else noticed this pattern in the local climate groups?

My coworker in Mesa bought a 10 panel system and still runs an old fridge from the 90s that probably eats 800 watts a day just to keep a few sodas cold. I helped him swap it out for an energy star model and his bill dropped by thirty bucks the next month without changing anything else. Small efficiency fixes really do add up way faster than people expect, especially when you're trying to make solar actually work for you.

Got a buddy in Tucson who did the same thing. Bought a huge solar setup for his RV but refused to swap out his old CRT TV because it "still works fine." That thing pulls like 200 watts just to show a fuzzy picture. He finally got an LED TV when the CRT died on him, and his solar system suddenly kept up no problem. People get so focused on the big shiny solution they forget the small stuff adds up fast. It's like patching a leaky bucket instead of just buying a new bucket.
