Serious question, has anyone else seen the new solar farm outside of Flagstaff?

I drove past it last week and the scale of cleared land really hit me. I support clean energy, but seeing a whole hillside stripped for panels made me wonder if we're trading one environmental problem for another. Has anyone looked into the actual habitat loss from these big solar projects?

Are they sure they're not just giving the place a really aggressive haircut? In my experience, sometimes these land management projects look a lot worse before they get better, kind of like my attempts at landscaping. I'm guessing there's a plan, but from the outside it sure looks like nature's getting a rough day at the spa.
