PSA: Installing a rain barrel in my Portland backyard took a whole weekend
I thought it would be a quick Saturday job, but leveling the ground and connecting the diverter to my downspout was way trickier than the YouTube videos made it look. It took me about 12 hours total across two days to get it set up without any leaks. Has anyone else in a rainy area had this much trouble setting up their first water catchment system?

Heard the city sometimes offers free workshops on this stuff. Honestly those videos make everything look easy.

Ever try the city workshops? I went to one on basic plumbing last year. The guy showed us how to properly wrap pipe thread tape, like three full wraps tight. That alone fixed my leaky sink connection.
