My old truck used to be my daily driver, now it's a weekend project

For years, I drove my 1998 Ford F-150 everywhere, even for a 2-mile trip to the store. After seeing the gas prices hit $5 a gallon here in Phoenix last summer, I finally did the math. I bought a used bike for $200 and started using it for any trip under three miles. The truck sits in the driveway most days now, and I only start it up for hauling fencing supplies. Has anyone else made a switch like this and found it easier than you thought?

Gas was five bucks a gallon in Phoenix? That's insane, I thought it was bad here. Good on you for making the switch, man.

Totally get that. My old Jeep was the same story. The real shocker was how little I actually needed it for just running around town. Biking those short trips cuts the gas bill to zero and it's honestly less hassle than finding parking. The big truck feels like a special tool now, not a daily chore. Makes you wonder why we all drove those tanks everywhere for so long.
